When your organising skills meet your kids special memories…

IMG_1025As a working mum, I am constantly juggling and balancing our lives, hoping to give everyone what they need while still being able to do what I’m passionate about.

I find that my super organised personality is serving me well lately with the limited time I have to dedicate to anything outside of our normal weekly routine. Creating memory boxes for the girls falls into this ‘outside of normal routine’ category. So this week, since I feel I am on top of everything at work and at home I gave myself a little project to get some of the clutter organised.

Do you ever wonder what you should do with all the certificates, pieces of art, ‘first drawing’ ‘first time they wrote their name’ ‘ first time they coloured in a picture’ ‘birthday cards’? Well I do! I have things filed away in lots of places and with my eldest starting school next year I felt there was no better time to start before all the report cards and everything else starts flowing in.

I dragged my partner in crime and the kiddies to Office Works on the weekend and picked up all these goodies to get these memory boxes started.

It didn’t require much, and you don’t even need the label maker (let’s be honest that’s the OCD in me loving that all the labels are the same, ha!). I got a plastic tub for both girls, they holder suspension files. I then picked a colour for each of the girls (who knew there were so many suspension file choices these days???) and I was done!

I labelled each folder from Birth through to Post School and threw in a General folder for… well you know all that general stuff 🙂

It was super easy, doesn’t take up much room and now I have all their achievements, memories and little creations all in one place that I can eventually give to them when they are settled in their own homes. Happy Memory Making!
